Update on Uncle Ahmad

Hello Family!

We just left The Colonnades at Reflection Bay, rehabilitation center in Pearland, TX visiting Uncle Ahmad. He looks much healthier, is moving around a lot better, and is less pain.

He is expected to remain at the center for 10 more days. He is receiving antibiotics daily through a pick line and things are looking up.

He told us he had no memory of us visiting him at the VA a few weeks back, but he was glad to see us. We'll check in on him this weekend. Continue to keep him, Aunt Rena, and Jeffrey in your prayers.

Quick Wichita Update

Hello Family!

Just wanted to give a quick update on happenings down in Wichita. Ashley and I had a wonderful time with Harry, James, Megan and Landon! Thanks for visiting! We're heading out to Chicago for the  rest of the week for a much anticipated vacation and then we'll be heading up to Junction City for Landon ' s Birthday/Baptism blast! Finally, I'm afraid I have less than stellar news to report. On Friday, my work contract with the Foundation was terminated.

It was cordial but an unexpected and sad departure. I'm sorry that I did not call to tell you each in person or call sooner, but it's a conversation that I am still fully processing. And I want to be looking forward, not back. I have started the job hunt and your prayers of support and patience would truly be appreciated as we go through this process. Last Sunday our pastor brought a message to us that on the preceding of every dark moment is a shining one, and that we fall into the dark so that when God pulls us into the light we can be a witness to how amazing he is and that throughout everything he reigns. God has some growing and developing he wants me to achieve. So we are optimistic for the future and taking the necessary steps to prepare for these next few weeks and months.

Love you all and thank you for your support and prayers!

Update from Minnesota

Hi all,

It's Harrison.

I don't have much to report.

I spent the last two weeks traveling--to Nebraska for the Great Plains Theatre Conference in Omaha where my play SWEET was read as part of the PlayLabs series and then home to Manhattan where I hung out with mom and dad and grandma A and took a side trip to Wichita with James, Megan and Landon to see Jonathan and Ashley AND THEIR HOUSE!

I'm now back in Minnesota trying to tie up all of my writing loose ends and waiting to hear back about several possible summer opportunities.

Good news:

It seems as though I may have wrangled commissions from both The History Theatre in St. Paul, MN and the National Conservatory Theater Center in San Francisco, CA.

My musical THE LAST QUEEN OF CANAAN is a finalist for The National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival (NAMT), held in the fall in NYC every year.

I'm a finalist for the Founder's Award at New York Stage & Film.

"Created in honor of the company's founders, Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, and Leslie Urdang, on the occasion of the company's 25th anniversary, this award offers an emerging writer a one-month residency with Stage and Film for this July on the Vassar College campus in Poughkeepsie, NY.  During this time, the writer has the chance to work on his or her own within our rich community of emerging and established writers, be supported closely by New York Stage and Film's artistic staff, and be given a professional reading of his or her latest play at the end of the residency, in addition to a monetary award."

I'll be in NYC workshopping my musical FIVE POINTS later this month and then again in early August. I will also spend three days with the creative team of my musical PARIS BLUES at that time.

Things I'm most excited about: Seeing HAMILTON and FUN HOME on Broadway in August!

Much love to you all!
