Twin Cities Update

Family!

A few updates from The Twin Cities.

1. I survived my first migraine! Three days of excruciating pain--during which I could barely open my eyes. Thank god for my NYC friends (especially Josh K for the Aleve and David for the Uber ride uptown), Lee (for the head massage), Q (for encouraging me to rest) and Christopher (for literally guiding me around the city.

2. My musical collaborators--Jacob and Rebekah--had a concert of their songs at 54 Below on Monday, February 16th. The music from our musical THE LAST QUEEN OF CANAAN brought down the house! Jean Doumanian Productions (http://www.jdpnyc.com/) is pretty excited about the piece. We'll see what happens...

ALSO we'll be workshopping LAST QUEEN in the Twin Cities from April 27-May 10th with Theatre Latte Da as part of their NEXT: New Musicals in the Making Series: http://www.theaterlatteda.com/next/

3. Labyrinth Theatre Company (http://labtheater.org/) has shown some serious interest in my play WHERE STORMS ARE BORN. They've invited me BACK to NYC for a reading on March 20th. The cast includes Adriane Lenox (Tony Award winner for DOUBT), Quincy Tyler Bernstein (Obie Award winner for RUINED), Kyle Beltran (IN THE HEIGHTS), Brian Terrell Clark (MOTOWN), Jason Tam (A CHORUS LINE, IF/THEN) and Christopher Livingston (PARTY PEOPLE). It will be directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller.

Labyrinth is considering the play for production next season and ME for inclusion in their ENSEMBLE.

4. The folks from the American Musical Theatre Project at Northwestern University (http://web5.soc.northwestern.edu/amtp/) are interested in my other musical, FIVE POINTS. We (me, Douglas and Ethan) have a meeting on March 22nd (in NYC) with the General Manager.

5. I was invited to attend the 2015 Great Plains Theatre Conference in Omaha, Nebraska (http://www.mccneb.edu/gptc/). I will be workshopping my play SWEET.

Love you all!

  1. Harrison, be intentional in getting rest. don't want to be burned out before 40. You have to learn to pace yourself. Very exciting, good job! I'm on pins and needles about what's going on. D.A.D.

"Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything… It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”
