Hi all,
Wow, it's been a while since we've used the blog!
I feel like some of you know what I've been up to in the last 6 months and some of you know some of what I've been up to in the last 6 months.
In order to eliminate any confusion - I thought I'd post and share!
The madness began with our wedding on May 6th, which some of you were able to attend and some of you were not. It was beautiful.
Look out for a link to the wedding video!
Then I was off to Williamstown in Massachusetts for 4 weeks working on a production of my play "Where Storms Are Born." Audiences responded very well to the show and I was quite pleased. It was also nice that so many people were able to make it out to see the show - Q, The Bineham's and dear friends Jon-Michael, Daniel and Kenneth and Lupita Nyongo (Oscar winner for "12 Years a Slave, who wept uncontrollably after the presentation).
Then I was off to New York City for a long weekend to open another play called "And She Would Stand Like This," directed by my dear friend David Mendizabal. We got spectacular reviews and RuPaul (of "RuPaul's Drag Race") said it was "Terrific!"
Then I was back and forth between the Twin Cities and New York workshopping new plays: "Five Points" with Latte Da, "A Crack in the Sky" with The History Theatre and "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires" with Ricochet Collective.
THEN Christopher and I were in San Francisco for 4 weeks working on a production of my play "This Bitter Earth," which will also get a production in St. Paul in the Spring. The production was stunning and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Hopefully these productions will lead to more.
While I was in San Francisco I interviewed for a 1 year teaching position at Kenyon (the jet lag was serious). I have accepted and plans are being made for housing and classes for next year.
NOW we're in New York for the opening of "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires," a play about the Hayman Fire from 2002 that was set by a forest service employee who burned a letter from her ex-husband during a fire ban - an incredibly timely piece given that so much of the western half of the country is on fire. Q was able to catch the show while she was in town - always a pleasure.
If you're ever interested in seeing what I'm up to artistically I update the reviews sections and the production photos section of my website pretty consistently: harrisondavidrivers.com
Lastly, we leave for Paris for 4 weeks on Sunday. It's part work trip, part honeymoon. We're super excited.
We hope everyone is doing well. All the brothers and the sisters and the mamas and the papas and the little ones.
Love,
H&C

Room in JC
We have 2 rooms with plenty of floor space at our place! If you are ok with sleeping on an air mattress then anyone is welcome. We can also have the meal here if it's not to much to bring the food over. Just let us know!!!
Set Date for Rivers Christmas
We have a change of date for the Rivers Christmas
As long as it works OK for everybody's schedule,
it's OK for us to have it on December 26th.
Either way it's OK with us. We are not going anywhere,
I just need to know about food and housing

December 26th? 4.1 Says Yes!
Wonderful updates and thankful all are well!
Unless there are sizable objections, Ashley and I second and third Harrison's motion to hold our Rivers Family Christmas Celebration on Monday, December 26th.
Also, thank you guys for including Landon and Christopher! Expanding family calls for expanded giving!
Any opposed or have work/schedule conflicts with the 26th?
